Lemmon’s Speech & Language Services believes that effective communication is the key to success. As such, this agency provides quality speech-language therapy & consultative services to improve speech-language impairments; thereby improving clients (of all ages) communication abilities and quality of life.

Communication is a two-way process in which people exchange information. We send information by speaking, writing, gesturing and touching. We receive information by listening reading, watching, or feeling. Our daily activities and interpersonal relationships depend greatly on our communication skills. In fact, this is realized most fully only when our ability to communicate is interrupted.

Communication difficulties can have a devastating effect on the quality of our lives. Feelings of frustration, isolation and even loss of self-esteem frequently develop. In children, communication disorders can interfere with educational progress and social-emotional development. These children are eligible for speech-language services when their speech or language behavior is noticeably different from that of other children of their age or grade level. Adults are frequently referred for speech-language services following a stroke or brain injury, head or neck cancer, respiratory illness requiring tracheotomy and/or ventilator dependence, neurological diseases and diseases of the vocal cords.

Individuals who have potential communication disorders may be identified through routine screenings or upon referral by family members, teachers, physicians and others.
